Diabetic Alert Dogs are trained to assist
Type 1 Diabetics and Insulin Dependant
Diabetics to manage their blood glucose
levels.
Dogs are taught to recognize both Low
and High blood glucose levels and to
alert their partners when levels are out
of a safe range. This program is
especially useful for those who are
hypoglycemia unaware.
Glycemic Detection Dogs
Not all people with diabetes have
difficulty "feeling"€ their lows and
highs during the day, however they may
have the misfortune of missing the low
blood glucose symptoms at night or
while pre-occupied at home.
A Glycemic Detection Dog is trained to
wake their partner from sleep and alert
to hypoglycemic events at home.
